Part 3

In this last post, I’ll be talking about important information you should know before selling on Fiverr.

Here are the absolute must-knows. I saved the best for last, as this is stuff that will define your time on Fiverr. Here are 6 of my most important tips:

1. Don’t overvalue yourself, but don’t undervalue yourself, either.

Part of the agreement you make upon joining Fiverr is that your skills are essentially worth $5 per assignment. As a quality writer, it’s important not to undervalue yourself in this way. Win over your clients with competitive pricing and, most importantly, quality. Extras also help your wallet, so be sure to take advantage of those.

2. Pace yourself.

It’s easy to have 10+ orders at a time, but this will kill your productivity. Slow and steady definitely wins the race here. And after you finish a large load of work, don’t be afraid to use the vacation mode for a few days. This is also true for other life events that require your time. Your business won’t die while you’re gone, so don’t worry about it.

Also, set realistic turnaround times for yourself. Mine range from 5 to 14 days, depending on the size of the work. Don’t be afraid to push yourself, but don’t overexert yourself. Once you level up, buyers will also have the option of paying more for faster delivery.

3. Don’t be afraid to cancel or refuse orders.

If you are inundated with orders, don’t feel obligated to fulfill all requests. If a buyer asks you to do something with which you’re uncomfortable, say no! At the end of the day, mutual agreement is necessary, so don’t stretch yourself.

4. Take advantage of extra add-ons.

Once you’re a Level 1 seller, you can add Extras to your Gig, such as express delivery or increased word count. Use your imagination here, as the feature comes in handy.

5. Buyers’ ratings are important.

Ask your clients to leave reviews so others will know you provide quality services. How they rate you will affect others’ opinions for you. I’ve had a couple of clients recommend me to others, which is the biggest compliment you can receive on Fiverr.

6. Learn to deal with late work.

Late orders could also affect your standings. When buyers request a modification, it only gives you the remaining order time left to deliver the modified order. So if you deliver an order with ten hours left and eleven hours later the buyer requests a modification, the order will be late. Thankfully, you can simply ask your buyers to message you with requests instead of requesting modifications.
